Defeat Colon Cancer

The Fight To Live

The Fight of our Lives!

Hello, my name is Samuel Gomez,Sr. and welcome to my Website. I am an Endoscopy Technologist. My job is to assist the Doctors (Gastroenterologists) in Endoscopic procedures such as Colonoscopies. The main purpose of my site is to advise everyone about the importance of having a Colonoscopy.

What is a Colonoscopy?

A Colonoscopy is a procedure in which a long flexible Endoscope is inserted into the Anus to look into the Large Bowel (Large Intestine). The Endoscope has a camera that magnifies the Colon onto a screen where the Doctor can see the entire Colon starting with the Rectum, Sigmoid, Descending Colon, Splenic-Flexure, Transverse Colon, Hepatic Flexure, Ascending Colon (Right Colon), and ending with the Cecum (Beginning of the Large Intestine).

I mentioned all parts of the Colon because the Doctor will begin coming out of the Colon and looking at every section to find possible growths called Polyps. Polyps can be removed by the Doctor during this procedure. The importance of these removals is to prevent these growths from forming into a Cancer.

When and why you should have a Colonoscopy?

Usually when a person reaches the age of 50, a person should schedule a Colonoscopy for a Screening. But if a person has family members with a history of Colon Cancer then one must schedule a Colonoscopy immediately. This is important because it can help a person, having a first time Colonoscopy, find out if Polyps exist in their Colons thus having them removed to prevent further growth.

I, myself, will definitely schedule my Procedure when I reach the age of 50. There is nothing to be ashamed of. This is your life and your health we are talking about. During my time as an Endoscopy Technologist, I have seen many patients with much more serious problems with their Colons such as Cancer Masses, Ulcerated Colons, Colitis (Inflammation of the Colon) and Crohn's Disease.

I will be updating my site, as time goes by, with more information and locations where you can schedule your Colonoscopy.

In the meantime, please browse my site. I will be adding other pages with special friends I know  from the Medical Centers I have worked for. These are the individuals who have the utmost respect when it comes to Patient care.

Thank you!
